Cerenkov Radiation

Radiation produced by particles moving through a medium at velocities faster than the speed of light in that medium. First observed in water-cooled fission reactors, where high-energy beta particles traveling faster than the speed of light (in water) eit a characteristic "blue glow."

Vessels entering tachyon phase often leave a faint but detectable "blue ghost" of Cerenkov radiation.
