Geographic division of Terra, on an island to the northwest of the Eurasian continent. As a political entity, England traces its origins to the 900s BCE. During the approximate period of 1600 - 1930 CE, England was at the head of the British Empire, which (at its peak) controlled over one-third of the land surface of Terra.
