Common name for the Taatokal Galactic epidemic of 4019-4020 CE, which wiped out about one-third of the Human population of the Galaxy. Whole settlements and planets (most notably including Lucifer) were completely depopulated. The Great Death is generally considered by historians to mark the beginning of the Long Winter of Humanity.
